Why Teach at Brevard Academy?

“I have worked in public schools for 17 of my 26 years working with kids at all levels of education. From small, medium, and large public school districts, the complexity of managing such large groups of people can be overwhelming and astonishing, not to mention the cost factor for all departments. This is particularly true in large county school settings. State testing procedures alone will lead to mass anxieties for both students’ and staff members because of the sheer large numbers. Quite often, despite their very best efforts, teachers will find themselves detached from their students for the sole and very real reason of the number of students they see per day. However, now that I am teaching at Brevard Academy, I find myself valuing the close relationships that can most definitely be more positive and successful with students and staff alike. There is something to be said in working in a small administrative system. More manageability, the less demand for multiple roles, as well as the fostering of student-teacher relationships that ultimately lead to productive and successful students of all ages. Staff members, too, will be happier at their workplace, as opportunities for their own professional and personal growth will often become more opportune.”
