Jeffrey Richards
Hello. I'm Jeff Richards and I'm the Middle School EC teacher here at Brevard Academy. I'm in and out of each of the classrooms in grades 6-8, so I work with lots of students each and everyday. I'm also the soccer coach here at BA. I started working at BA back December of 2019, after spending the last 10 years at another county. I absolutely love BA because it is a smaller school compared to the area county schools. Because of this, I feel I get to know not only other staff members, but all of the kids as well. In larger school systems sometimes it's too easy to get lost in the crowds.
I live in Hendersonville, with my wife. Together we raised 5 daughters together, who now all have children of their own, making us the proud grandparents of 9 more terrific kids!
I've been teaching for the past 26 years, having started back in Northern New Hampshire where I was born and grew up. I went to college at the University of New Hampshire Community College, earning an associates degree in science in behavioral studies and later a bachelors's degree in behavioral science. I completed my teaching training at Western Carolina University and have taken master degree classes at UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Asheville, and UNC-Greensboro. It's all a work in progress.
When I'm not at BA teaching terrific kids, I enjoy hiking the beautiful mountains here in the Blue Ridge, especially in and around The Shining Rock Wilderness Area. The Great Smoky Mountain areas, including Mt. Leconte is also one of my favorite places and hikes. I also enjoy writing, model building, and mountain biking.
